Walter - Your suggestion works very well!

Roxanne - Thanks for the warning about the LOADPICTURE() bug. I will be using external JPG & BMP files - they will not be compiled into an EXE so all should work well.

Walter - I thought something was funny when the returned value for a bitmap with a width of 550 pixels returned a value of 14,600. All I did was determine the factor of 26.458 and with some simple division ended up with the results I required.

I am just at the beginning stages of this application and will be looking into other opions as well such as activex.
