Your best bet is probably Stonefield Database Toolkit (www.stonefield.com) which has a utility to repair common problems with DBF's and FPT's. There are a couple of utilities for this purpose in the UT file section but they appear to be seriously out of date (1991 & 1993) and probably won't work with VFP6.
