Don't know where else to ask this...

While installing software on a new Dell P3-500 running Win98 SE, I've noticed an odd behavior of the Start Menu that I can't seem to determine where to configure.

When I install a new application (say, Visual Studio), the folder or app appears at the bottom of the Programs frame in the Start Menu. In Win95 (and NT, as I remember), the list is auto-sorted -- sometimes immediately, sometimes after a reboot -- but not so here. Clicking the header in Explorer for the folder sorts the items in Explorer, but makes NO difference on the Start Menu. Sorting them in Setting/Taskbar/Advanced does nothing, nor does the above mentioned "copy" action when I run it from here. The only thing that works is opening Explorer, manually copying the items to a "work" Start Menu folder, then re-copying them back to the Programs folder.

I've gone into View/Customize This Folder, and (not being a JavaScript person) I can't make heads or tails of the JavaScript that results from that action.

There's GOT to be a simple switch to flip that makes this happen. Anybody?
