Greetings Eric

>I'm afraid I don't know what's going on, but I do have a UI hint for you- a menu with 55 items all in a row is a cumbersome menu. Try categorizing come of the functions, and breaking them into levels. This will make the menu easier to use as well as get rid of your problems.

yes, unfortunately, my users specifically want to avoid nested menus as far as possible and demand to see them on one menu so that - ferinstance - if they need to 'Clear a Filter' or 'Print Report' or whatever, they can call up the list of hot keys and type 'print rep' and go straight to the menu item (and either run the routine from the menu or simply remind themselves what the hot key is). I had this working beautifully in my hand written menu but the menu designer won't let me do it. (or rather, it will, but then cuts off access to the lower part of the list after a variety of apparently arbitrary actions).

Anyone got any ideas?

(incidentally, apologies for delay in acknowledging your reply - up to my eyeballs in unfinished business and feet haven't touched the ground at all so far this century!)

Harry
