I am trying to print W2 image and data on a blank page. I have a 2500x1560 gif image which at 300 dpi is 8.3"x5.2", or about half a page. The problem is: I think vfp reduces the res to around 72 dpi as part of its internal page builder engine.

There is nothing in the gif or bmp file spec that defines dpi. a 10x10 image is nothing more than 100 dots, with no regard to size. if you print that image, something has to determine how big a dot is.

If I have a 300dpi printer, shouldn't I be able to print 300 dpi images?

If anyone wants to play with the images, you can find them at http://24.131.155.182/carl/tmp/w2frx/w2f-99/ the bmps are around 250k, but watch out for the 9meg gifs!

ps, if anyone has an image file of the 4up w2 layout, I'll be forever in your debt. The IRS didn't post it on there web site for some reason. I scanned one, but the fonts size of the labels is around 4, so it starts distorting the image.
