Thanks for the information Matt. I actually did use David's solution (with pinch of Ed's code -- GROUP BY ) because, as you noted, it is more elegant. I'll play with my old code at some point just to try to figure out why what was happening happened. As I recall, the code would not even be put into the macro expand string unless there was at least one element in the array but I could be mistaken. Definitly wouldn't be the first time!
