John,

>Rod and I are in the planning stages for the third incarnation of our VFP book. In case you don't know, the title is changing slightly. The new book will be called VFP 7 Distributed Development.

I would buy it IF it included the following:

1) Tutorial and examples on how to package COM middle-tier components for a typical application. What classes go into the same .dll or .exe, which go into separate components, and why? Performance considerations for the above, inside MTS or not.

2) Tutorial and examples on designing middle-tier components that work equally well with multiple front-ends, and especially the question: "where do you create the HTML?" for Web front-ends. Maybe some discussion the differences between data objects vs. "business objects".

3) How to use VFP in COM+ (assuming it ends up with those capabilities)?

4) I second the emotion about API stuff -- maybe a good dose of practical examples with WSH, that we all are likely to need.

5) All in all, I'd say try to make it as practical as possible, instead of just theoretical -- lots of meaty, usuable examples that we can put to use in real applications.

I look forward to seeing what you produce.
