I, too, have studied frameworks. Maxframe is a good Framework. Drew Speedy's philosophy is that Foxpro was never meant to be used in a completely object-oriented development environment. (The menu system and reports are two examples.) His contention is that the developer should use objects where appropriate and procedural programming when necessary.

Codebook pushes object-oriented programming by wrapping everthing in objects, including the menu system. I like this approach because it makes it easier to integrate things, but it does make the learning curve steeper. I grew up with Codebook, and I'm glad I did because now my applications are COM ready. I have been separating my application logic from my interface because I use codebook. This makes developing n-tier applications a snap. I feel the technology is moving more towards objects and away from the procedural approach. For this reason I prefer Codebook.
