Sorry, that's my best shot. We had several instances of the error occuring in our app, and to my knowledge all were "cured" by recompiling in SP3. Personally I don't like using grids for data entry but that's a personal quirk, probably not applicable in your situation.
Did you remove the textbox from the column that the editbox is in?
