I figured out why my report was behaving so wacky. Instead of using the value that each report variable has in the group footer, it's using the value it had last in the detail band.

So my new question is, how do I total across if report variables won't work. I need to take the sum of all the margins on the invoice and divide it by the sum of all the extended prices on the invoice.

And then I need to do the same for the sums of all invoices for the salesperson, and again for the grand total.

Any ideas?
