This past year was the first DevCon I've attended where the DevCon was not accompanied by either a beta release or a product launch, and we had as close to a ringside seat on the UI of VFP7 as we could reasonably expect in one evening session 18 months out from product launch. I've never gone to any of the SoCal events; I've been to FoxTeach a couple of three times in Montreal. I'm hoping that there will be a late beta or with a little luck an early RC, but that is entirely a guess.
