Sorry for the confusion.
I guess I should ask whether or not there are any groupings that require you to reset the page number back to 1 in your report?
>>The way we did this was to have two layouts: one without "X of N" and one with. Using the first layout, print the report for each value you're grouping by and store the end page numbers with the appropriate key to a cursor (i.e. if you're grouping by some value and that group header band is set to reset the page number to 1, then you will need to store the last page number for each value). Then using the second layout you can reference cursor and provide the "N" value. I know this sounds sloppy but I haven't found another way around this.
