A category should be a sub-topic of the forum topic, in this case: VFP. So it logically wouldn't fit in, is there something you would likle to see added to the documents? Because thats were we can make the suggestions and feedback. (I see your name there so I know you know that :-)

Currently, we can exclude all the non-technical categories. You can veiw the list of them by clicking on "New Thread" and then category definition. I think what you are asking for (complete control of categories) may come later, but it is "partialy" available now.

Private categories? Hmmm, I'll have to let Mike and company think about that, but I think it would be rather unproductive to hide information from most users, JMO.1

Why, VFP of course! I'm working on one by using VFP from ASP, its pretty fun. Rick Strahl has a class called wwThreads, that may be a good place to start.
