Hi all,

I hope someone can help me on the above using the VFP Report Writer. I want the report to be able to printed in both type of printers and speed is also important in DotMatrix. In a way if I design the report for Laser which can have the TrueType fonts, the speed of printing in DotMatrix would be extremely slow.

Initially I thought of just replacing the fields in EXPR,TAG,TAG2 and the fontface of the .FRX file but it seems to be a lot of work unless I miss out something. Example if the report I design in the Laser has lines then this would be problem in speed for DotMatrix. Moreover I need to packaged the FRX and FRT files to my users. This way I also need a file to store the printers EXPR memo field content so that I replace the FRX with the chosen EXPR content.

The other way I will need design 2 templates for each of them and ask the user during print dialogue the prefered styles. This way I do not need to package the FRX and FRT files.

Is there any way I can get information form the Windows or VFP when a printer is chosen using the GETPRINTER() function, the printer is a laser or DotMatrix?

Can someone advice me whether what other considerations and ways to do the above?
