This is really reaching back but as I remember I last saw this error in Fox 1.2 and it was when I was trying to use a function in a place that it was not supported. Seems that I had to modify my thinking to use a procedure rather than a function in that situation but with the passing of years it gets a bit foggy. You might try doing a sequel select where your condition exists and append from query... or something but I think that this error means that your udf is not recognized in context. good luck,
