You do not need inheritance to employ any of this.... FWIW, patterns have been around longer than OO languages themselves. The only difference is that they have nice sounding names...< bg >. Heck, I employed chain of responsibility type procs in Fox 2.x, and if memory serves, that did not support inheritance.
