I noticed that you are passing ODBC in front of your connection string.
I use
omain.conhand1 = SQLSTRINGCONNECT( SQLDRIVER=SQL Server; SERVER=EDispatch ; UID=sa; PWD=; WSID=EClient; DATABASE=Dispatch)
Without any problems, to connect to a SQL Server7 database.
