DENVER - June 8, 1999 - Today at the Windows® CE Developers Conference, Microsoft Corp. demonstrated Microsoft® SQL Server™ for the Windows CE operating system. This event marks the fulfillment of Microsoft's strategic goal to provide a scalable, reliable and easy-to-use SQL Server solution that extends from productivity appliances such as handheld, palm-size and embedded Windows CE-based devices up to the enterprise.

>That is bloody amazing. It doesn't appear to be on the market yet though... couldn't find any mention of a CE version at the SQL site.
I took a look there too, with the same total lack of results. Although the URL is right there in living colour, I am frankly incredulous. SQL Server is such a resource hog I have real trouble believing MS could cram any meaningful subset of it into a real CE machine.
The article has absolutely no specifics on hardware used for the demo; this would of course be of utmost, crucial importance to any CE developer.
I believe the article is classic MS FUD; they're using vapourware to try to sew up a market before their entry is ready to play.
Either that, or the "demo" was on a notebook-class PC that happened to be running WinCE.
