How are you linking them? NIC-Hub-NIC or NIC-NIC? If NIC-NIC, are you using a cross-over cable (send/receive pins are reversed=special cable)

Otherwise the 'error message' is probably a SAP or RIP message. Basically they're saying that the other one is mis-reporting the network they're trying to talk in. I'm not sure of the exact vocabulary here, but you want to make sure the logical network number of the interface the two servers share is the same number. ie: If server A has network number #00000006 and it is connected to server B that has network number #00000009 then they'll both error something to the effect: "blah blah network 00000006 should be 00000009" and vice versa. If you change one or the other (or both) to the same number, they'll stop compaining about the routing problem.

This is just a guess. For more help you'd have to provide the actual error message.
