Monique,

We use verisign, well, www.signio.com, actually, formerly www.PaymentNet.com *g* (how do you speel acquisition? *bg*) and process payments over the Internet without a hitch. Very stable and a good group of folks to deal with.

Their current pricing (I just went through this so it's fresh in my mind) is 19.95 a month for unlimited transactions. Check them out at http://www.signio.com/pricing.html to see if their basic service meets your needs.

Best,

DD

>I've been working one using a product called Active Charge to process credit card transactions via TCP/IP. We were successful in getting the product to work, however, a serious bug is causing us to look for other solutions and/or ask for help! We are using Active Charge and are running it as a service on a web server (IIS, NT, Active Server Pages). The reason we run it as a service is Active Charge will not work unless it is logged in as administrator on the server -- an incredibly huge security risk -- and a totally dumb requirement imposed by the vendor. They have a program called go soft that allows the program to run as a service there by eliminating the need to be logged in as administrator.

>Problem I'm having is the program runs as a service but after a while when a transaction is submitted it doesn't process it and eventualy times out. In effect, the program is totally useless when this happens. Since the program is running as a service we are supposed to know when it's not working (this is a major benefit of a service). Problem is the program shows as status "running" even when it isn't. We attempted a temporary fix by scanning for the port number the application uses in hopes we could monitor the port and issue a "kill" commmand to terminate the application and restart it automatically when there is no activity on the port. Unfortunately, it appears as though the application doesn't use a port to communicate.

>If anyone has run into this problem and fixed it please help. If anyone is using another program that can verify transactions via TCP/IP or other internet based protocol please let me know! If the bug can be fixed it's an excellent solution since it processes credit card transactions in less than 10 seconds when it's operating properly.
