>I guess I am not speaking very clearly here. What I am proposing, is a OO report generator, not a writer or manager.

>So, at the time of report generation, there would be events for each item that is printed. In that event, you can manipulate the item as an object. Each detail line, header, footer, and so on... would have events and each event would have access to a related object that can be manipulated in real-time.

>Yes, you are correct when you say that one should know what other competing products are out there. But I believe that Doug's report offering is more a manager type product. I'm not saying that I don't get things wrong all the time, so I could also be very wrong about this.

>So far, no one has said yes or no to this idea. I am beginning to believe that it is probably not worth the effort, even though one of the wish list items is for Object 'Oriented' reports.

About a year ago a product like this, called Bulls Eye Reports, was announced. A demo, which looked promising, was available for download. The company's website (
www.uspioneer.com) is still there but the Bulls Eye page is gone and there longer seems to be any reference to the product on that site. I don't know what happened to it but you may want to try to find out. I can only guess, but perhaps there was not enough market interest to sustain it. It sure looked good on paper, though.
