Yes this is a major problem within CR7. The solution I came up with is to use .IDX index files rather than the .CDX files.

In runtime you can change the default table location, but you can't for the index files. I've dicovered that if you change the table's location, the index file (.IDX) is search under the original name, but in the same directory of the changed table location:

For example:
If you make your report with the help of ARTICLE.DBF and ARTICLE.IDX stored in the C:\vfpdevelopment\ dir, and in runtime you change the table location and name into C:\temp\_5347958.dbf, you must create reporting index file as C:\Temp\Article.idx
