Dear All --
I am working on a project where a client has existing resume text in a memo field. I have built a system that moves the text in the memo field to loosely formatted Word DOC documents and then links these files to a GENERAL field in the same table for each contact. Here is the problem.
Because of character kerning (we are using Times New Roman), some lines extend beyond the right margin and are paragraph wrapped by Word (as it should). What I would like to be able to do is:
1. Preprocess the file and determine the line length of each line based on font, point size, and character kerning.
2. Adjust point size of the document until each line fits on ONE line unless a minimum point size is reached (if the point size is too small I will flag the record for the user to manually adjust).
3. Save the adjusted document and move to the next record.
Does anyone know where or how I can programmatically determine character kerning of a font from the font (or some other OLE automation source)? Although my initial base font is TNR, I would like to extend to my client the use of any font that they might deem worthy of use.
Thank you VERY much for your input.
