I heard that!!!

Our user group member was totally frustrated by his initial attempts to get the damn thing working because no one ever mentioned to him that the older ODBC driver wouldn't cut the mustard. He kept making the false assumption that it was something that he was or wasn't doing from his efforts that was causing the problem. A simple statement by MS to the fact that the old driver didn't have a sonowball's chance in hell of working would have saved him hours and hours of wasted time and frustration.

I guess the Visual InterDev team thought nobody out there was using Visual Foxpro. Or maybe they still aren't aware that Visual FoxPro is part of the MS product line. <s> Whatever they think, they dropped the ball in that area.

The gentleman who presented this at our user group meeting strongly suggested that noone in the user group ever try to develop anything with a product that is in beta. It's not worth the heartache. He was major ticked off!!!

Supposedly, Robert Green at MS had it working. In fact, I had our member call him directly on the phone where he got that interesting news about the unavailable (at that time) ODBC driver. The lengths we have to go to to get their software working. <g>
