Hello, Elyse. . .
I've not been working with Crystal that long, but it seems to me it would be overkill if you aren't going to be working with any other file types (other than Fox). Crystal does the following: Will combine data from many different file types into one report (Btrieve (if you get the Smithware version), Paradox, Access, Fox); will allow the user to modify the core data by default; will run queries and create an entire subset of information at a certain time of day or night, so the user can make best use of low-usage time on her network. While my experience with FoxFire is limited, it seems more what you want--the user can't change the core data, and she probably doesn't need the overhead of the ability to handle the other file types.

>What is the difference between FoxFire and Crystal Report Writers and is one better than the other? I have two basic needs: One is for a report writer that can be used by an end user, and the other is for something I can use as a developer to set up pre-defined reports and present the less sophisticated user with a simplified interface. I would also use it for building custom queries behind the scenes. Any suggestions?
