OK here is wonderful headache problem for anyone on a Friday.

Running NT4 SP5, SQL7 SP1.

Connecting to a remote SQL7 server using a supplied SQL username and password.

If you run queries in the SQL Query Analyser there is no problem at all.

If using the MMC, you can connect to the server, and drill down to the level which has Database|Data Transformation Packages|Management|Security|Support Services.

As soon as you drill down on the Database tab, the connection is broken, you can no longer ping the server, and you have to do a reboot to enable you to see any routers. This problem is consistent, and can be reproduced every time.

Has anyone else experienced this problem.

We have permissions to the master database and a specific user database as well.

Also this problem does not occur with other SQL users on the local domain, it is only when you connect to a remote domain that this problem occurs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Steve Lea
