Myself, this one is a case where i have classed a textbox with a generic valid that checks oldval(this.controlsource) and which is apparently a shaky construct. I wanted a generic but the only way way to use that syntax was with the table selected (works without selecting if you say oldval(tablename.fieldname) ).
