Access has rushmore in its Jet engine. Use of it is somewhat limited because (at least in Access 97) you can't create an index expression that is anything but a field or a series of fields. For instance, you can't INDEX ON Alltrim(yourfield) or YourUDF(yourfield) or anything like that.
