If the user has set a filter, then this could be your problem. Check the filter condition and make sure it is not referencing THISFORM, .Value or any other object. You will need to set a variable to the object value and use macro substitution to assign the filter.
I've had problems in the past where I set a filter on a view and received a similar error when the view was requeried.
