I think you're right saying that this shouldn't be done. However, in the past I used index based on UDFs to provide some trigger functionality within FPW 2.x and I can imagine that there will be (very) exceptional cases where and UDF based index can be of any benefit. I would probably store the UDF as a Stored Procedure.
But of course you're right it souldn't be used in general.
