See now I learned something (I figured I would if we kept chatting) I didn't realize that you could do that from a PC--I'm not surprised that a unix box uses its comm ports that way but I figured you would need special software on the PC.

I agree with you completely that a book was the way to go. Knowledge is good--period.

And personally, I would never burn a book, even the lousy one I bought on requirements last year for the 100 beta (worst book I ever tried to read). At the very minimum though she could have used it to level a printer, or a table leg or something :)
