Years ago, when I was developer-network admin-cabling guy, I noticed the uptime was getting close to a year. I waited the two or three days and then walked into my bosses office and said "Come with me." Walked him back and said "that server has been up for a year." (We stood and watched it roll over!)

I then told him I was taking the rest of the day off (about 6 hours). He said go for it and gave me a twenty to take the wife for lunch or dinner. On my next paycheck was a nice, fat raise.
