I did validate the DBC. I discovered that I had some old views that I had not taken out. When I took them out the problem went away.
However, I have another related/similar problem. I have a free table that I use in a form that is presented when the user logs on. I have the index set in the form data environment. When I take this to another machine, I get an error message stating that the index cannot be found although the cdx file is right there in the folder.
Back on the development machine I discovered that I can run the app just fine even in another folder.
It seems that the app is getting the index from the original development environement because when I change the name of the development folder, I get the same message.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

First of all, I moved the dbc and tables to a seperate folder (using a wizard to set all the references) and then created an EXE. When I run the EXE I get this message:
>>
>>Base table fields have been changed and no longer match view fields.
>>View field properties cannot be set.
