A third option is to use a monitor that handles the issue for you; the Nanao/Eizo FlexScan series products can do this - in fact, my T2-17ts has a whole host of mechanisms that work independently of the ACPI stuff - disconcertingly if you're using one for the first time with NT and don't adjust the monitor power saving features in the monitor, and thought you'd disabled the screen blanking in your display setup...

You don't really need your hard-drive going to sleep, or your CPU putting the monitor to sleep in a corporate setting. (how much $$ worth of electricity is saved compared with the cost of rebooting's downtime) Most corporate enviroments that concerned about 'wasted electricity' have the users turn the machine off overnight anyway. During the day (especially for MIS) the machine shouldn't be 'napping' any more than the employees.
