If you need a remote view it means you are using a database server like MSSQL, a sugestion would be to create a store procedure on the database itself that will do the replacement instead of doing it in FoxPro. The store proc being local to the server it run faster.

PS: I only have myself little experience with MSSQL, but I'm working with an application that we purchase and thats how they do with long procedures like month end update and stuff like that.
