It is a personal preference of mine that SET REPORCESS is always set very low (e.g. 1 or 2). Reprocess steals control of your program and you can basically do nothing until it detects an ESCAPE or its done. I don't like that <s>. Because of this, there eally is no extra time.

If I don't get a lock right away, I convey that to the end user and have them attempt the action again. More often than not, a second attempt is all that is needed.
