I think you've hit the nail on the head here (pun intended) If you built a good house, and your tools still work, use 'em to maintain that house, and even build new ones. If new tools work better use them too, or instead.
There is no threat here except the same one that threatens everyone in this industry the threat of being left behind, that is not a VFP only issue, that's everyone from the C programmer, to the AS/400 RPG guy to the budding Java guru, someday your tools and skills may not address the problem blaming the new tools (or the old ones) won't change a thing.
