Hmm...

Doesn't seem to work for very much...won't allow add column with long name, for example. Will not work on cursor created through SQL & USE AGAIN, either, these still get names truncated - and that's how most of my cursors get created...I'd stick with using SQL to manipulate cursors.

The SQL method will be around a long time - using ALTER TABLE on cursors, there's no guarantee whether it will work in the next vfp version, as it's only sort of an "accident " that it works at all, I think.
