Guess what? I am using buffering, but the people I work for asked me yesterday to switch to SCATTER/GATHER and dump the buffering. I have all my programs working fine using buffering, but they claim that some network applications are being affected by my buffering. I don't agree with them, but I have argued with them about buffering in the past and they let me slide, but now they are serious and told me to never use buffering for apps on their network ever.

Granted, I might need to add some record-locking error detection for multi-user editing of records, but other than that, I can't believe I have to change every program I have ever written from buffering to SCATTER/GATHER.

Am I having fun yet? Hmmmmm... Thanks for the info.
