I've got an app that is running on 4 local and one remote workstations. We're using 98SE and have very good luck. The machines are used only for business (no games) and it's been very stable. The only real problem I've found is that they have to pack regularly since that seems to keep the stability in line.

We're planning (and I'd suggest you look at) on moving to Win2k and MSDE.
1. Higher stability - MSDE is SQL Server and is more stable than VFP.
2. Better scalability - We can always move to the full version with little or no changes.
3. Remote access through dial in - Right now one table that eveyrone uses contains 500k records, which is a major pain for the remote user.
4. Web access - We're looking at using the web for some of the data entry functions instead of the remote dial in. We'll probably keep the dial in so that we can have a fall back.

I'd still do my front end stuff in VFP since this has a large amount of data manipulation (VFP's strong point).

Hope that helps.
