Lorne,
>I have a sinking feeling I know the answer, but I have to try. Is there a way to PERMENTLY delete a record form a table WITHOUT using pack? I have a multi user app, and as work progresses, records get deleted in code. The deleted records must be permently deleted, but in the data environment destroy event, I was doing
>close tables all
>use deletedfromtable exclusive
>pack
>use
>but of course, with another user in the system, that tends to blow up. I need to accomplish the same thing no matter how many users are in the system.
for this problem, i've submitted a wish for VFP 7.
- It should be possible to automaticly recycle records (by insert and append commands)
- It should be possible to hide deleted records, even if set deleted is off, so all DML operations and indexes are scoped to non-deleted records, improving performance.
We can only hope that the VFP will take this seriously and implement this wish. We'll have to wait and see....
Regards,
Walter,
