I think sometimes many of use bask in the comfort of the almighty M$ shadow, and we forget that when you leave Windows apps behind and starting doing enterprise/distributed stuff, it's not a Microsoft-only world anymore... at least not yet =D)

With Web Services (marketing term), really XML/SOAP/HTTP, it doesn't have to be a MS-only world anymore. Anyone who can read and write ASCII text and talk over HTTP can play in this sandbox.
