The requirement just left MSDOS for a cash register to a Pentuim 3. We copmlicated everything by 50 so we can run on a Mac. We not only have to support an IMB PC, but now every operating system, every browser version, and so many perhials it amazing. No Thanks.

Maybe the large clients that you deal with want something they read in a magazine, but most of the dolts we deal with want something that works, something thats simple to use, and want something that we can instantly support for them to get working again.

I have no problem you setting up a web browser interface for a client, a book store or similar, make it work in their controlled environment and move on knowing you've done a good job.

But I just don't think you are being realistic for a shrink wrapped application. And why create a simple complex version for the daring ones if there are only going to be a few.

On top of that, how long will this be around? I'm sure some people are not sure why you haven't gone completely XML now, thats way past browser actual interfaces (old hat), and in 2002, who knows? You can't just listen to MS and think that the latest strategy works in every single application.
