Sort of a dangerous strategy in my opinion. How will you know if you need a technology unless you learn it? How would you know that the Windows Script Host was the right tool for the job, unless you knew what its capabilities were? How could you possibly make an informed decision to use or discard a new technology unless you were familiar enough with its capabilities and shortcomings to know its personality?
IMO, sticking with this philosophy will ensure that one day you wake up and find that the world has passed you by, and is waving cheerfully from the rear window.
