Title:
ODBC difficulties after installing SQL Server Service Pack
I've just come back after a 6 month absence to find an application of mine that used to work great is no longer working. It uses ODBC to connect to SQL Server (version 6.5). I found out that the admins loaded the latest service pack onto the SQL server. I have loaded the latest MDAC stuff onto the client. I can get a connection handle, and even get result sets from the smaller tables, but when I try to query a large table I get this error:
'Protocol error in TDS stream'
All suggestions in the MS Knowledge base have resulted in null (except frustration). Here's the kicker, I've got some machines that work, and some that don't, and yet I cannot find the differences between them.
Suggestions on what to do/where to go/who to talk to would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to call MS, however the bureaucratic wheels move slowly here, and arranging for payment for a support call takes some time. Meanwhile, my application is dead in the water.
Thanks.
