With all due respect, I cannot think of a situation where the answer to
your question makes sense, unless you want to compare technical skills
of programmers at a given time under the same circumstances.
What is reasonnable entirely depends on the situation. Anyboddy can
make lightening fast systems or real turkeys. It's all a question on
how much it costs to develop a faster solution, and how necessary fast
responses are. The bottom line is that if the users need fast response
times, then your analysis should point it out so that you can include
this in your system requirements.
There simply is _is_ no such thing as a reasonable response time. What
is reasonnable today will be ridiculous in a few months (weeks,
days???).
