>Hi Rox, (sorry got called away yesterday, first chance to respond)
Likewise here.

>>Articles and white papers aimed for audiences outside of FoxTalk & Advisor. >You for example have an excellent scenario to do a white paper.

>You lost me here, which scenario are you referring to?

Sorry - I'm absolutely dreadful with names so I might be thinking of someone else, but I thought you recently posted a note about a VFP enterprise type project your currently working on.

>>A handful of articles in magazines like Enterprise Development and generic software journals in addition to an influx of fox whitepapers on msdn would atleast gives a document trail if not a stab at wider acceptance.

>How would this be accomplished?

This I'm not sure of - how does someone wanting to submit a developer white paper to Microsoft go about it? (Perhaps someone like Garret F. or Randy B. could answer this?)

>>Public domain fox developer tools/utilities. Brace yourselves, this is an off the wall thought.

>I think this is the best idea of all. What makes something valuable is necessity (implys use). If VFP is known as the source language for a bunch of cool freeware tools (maybe ones that exploit VFP data manipulation and DB intergration capabilities???)

That's exactly what I'm thinking! Imagine... we could gain popularity with the VB types who dont want to embrace all the new technology coming their way by packaging VFP's data munging into stupid little shareware tools.

>>One last idea - infiltrate the IT related news websites and download centers with fox related stuff.

>Also good, now how to we get *everyone* involved. These and my (simplistic I grant you) email lobbying campaign idea are as much of a grass-roots movement as any open source project has, but how do we get buy in from the VFP community??

Well first off, kill this thread and start a new one that recaps justs the positive ideas we've collected so far. Loose the "VFP dead" reference in the title & present this to the community as a proper grassroots campaign type salespitch... Plus if it's a nicely packaged message, perhaps we could get it distributed in the next VFUG newsletter to get it doubly exposed to the different factions of the VFP community.
