I think we have a different definition of "unique". To me unique means that there is only one instance of a value in the field, ensuring that no duplicate values are entered into the field. DISTINCT, on the other hand, means that all field values are returned only once (removing the dupes).

However, you and Michael are using "unique" to mean "distinct". That's where I was confused.

So, yes! Your solution will work if Michael wants a count of records distinctly.
