Ah ha...I think the penny has dropped!
What I think you are about to tell me is that the correct place for the user name and password is not the ODBC datasource but the VFP Connection?

I suppose I have been getting confused and expected to be able to specify parameters to cover everything that is in the SQL ODBC Connection Wizard.
