I just started the third volume of the Microsoft Mastering Series for Visual Basic, Enterprise Development, and found the following quote in Chapter 1 where they are describing Microsoft development tool:
"Microsoft Visual FoxPro 6.0 is a critical tool for building components that can be deployed and scaled in client/server, Internet, and intranet environments. These components are typically three-tier business rules servers and other components that work with data, whether local or remote. Visual FoxPro gives you the necessary tools to manage data - whether organizing tables of information or running queries, creating an integrated relational database management system (RDBMS), or programming a fully developed data management application for end users."
May just be MS advertising its own products, but it was nice to see in a book devoted to VB. BTW, if you're looking for a reasonably priced training course on VB, this three-volume set starts off with the basics and works up through the enterprise level. It runs about $150 USD and has lots of exercises and multimedia demos on the included CD's.
